Nosey News at the Wildlife In Need Center
The Wildlife In Need Center has again been
chosen as the partner for Noggin Group LLC for the Journal
Sentinel's Building Partners for Humanity Program. Even though
we didn't win it was a great experience once again and an
opportunity to get a beautiful ad in the Journal Sentinel which we
would otherwise never be able to obtain. This
year we were also gifted with a flash ad that was hosted on the
Journal Sentinel's website. If you missed the print ad you can
check it out along with the others from this year's contest at
http://marketplace.journalinteractive.com/partnersforhumanity/

The Wildlife In Need Center is grateful for
the support we received in the past several months from our
supporters, business partners and the community we serve.
·
The UPS Foundation of
Wisconsin partners with nonprofits not only by providing funding for
projects that match their goals and outlook of the corporation; they
also strongly encourage volunteerism amongst their employees.
Volunteers from the area not only volunteer on a regular basis, they
also participated in a spring clean-up effort on the grounds of WINC.
The UPS Foundation generously agreed to fund the purchase of a
number of new items, equipment and materials to upgrade and enhance
our education programming.
·
The Lake Country
Women’s Club Foundation provides small grants to area nonprofits,
especially those working to educate area residents. Despite funds
being low for everyone they generously donated monies for the
purchase of educational kits for use during programs this year with
the hope that they could assist more in 2010.
·
The Wal-Mart
Foundation, spearheaded by team members at the Delafield location,
donated to the Center as part of a campaign for area nonprofits who
would have seen less support this season due to the economy.
Wal-Mart also hosts a program through which nonprofits, specifically
animal related nonprofits, can make use of products that must be
taken off the shelves when they are damaged or out-dated. The
Watertown Wal-Mart has chosen the Center as its recipient of any of
these items we may need. This works out great for both parties and
we’re elated to say that since we began our partnership we’ve
already received over 3 dozen bags of dog food which will be greatly
appreciated by animals in our outdoor pre-release enclosures this
summer and fall! Thanks for giving back Wal-Mart!
·
For the 7th
year in a row the Milne Family Foundation in Hartland has chosen to
support the Center and this year’s recipient is our Baby Bird
Feeding Program. This program, geared towards junior volunteers,
but accepting volunteers of any age over 12, helps the Center to
feed, clean and care for hundreds of orphaned and injured baby birds
each summer. Over 60 volunteers dedicate themselves to this program
on top of the 50 or more we have helping to provide care for all the
rest of our patients during that time! In addition to interns and
staff who provide guidance, supervision and assistance, these
volunteers help to feed around 200 peeping little mouths as often as
every half an hour. In return for their dedication we host a
special fall picnic as a thank you and celebration of all the lives
they helped to save! Orientations for the baby bird feeding program
are being scheduled right now! Please watch our website or contact
our volunteer coordinator, at
volunteer@helpingwildlife.org.
Thank You!
