WINC Volunteers are awesome page

Thank your for being an important part of the Wildlife In Need Center!  Without you we couldn't care for over 2,000 animals who need our help each year or educate thousands of your friends and neighbors about the wildlife that surrounds us.

This page is your virtual bulletin board where you can find all the information you need as a valued volunteer at the Wildlife In Need Center. You can:

For times and dates view the calendar below.  For more detailed information check the descriptions below or contact someone in the office at 262-968-5075 from 9AM to 5PM seven days a week.  Classes listed on the calendar below are for current volunteers, but space is limited in many cases so please contact the Center at (262) 968-5075 or at volunteer@helpingwildlife.org to reserve your spot.

Please note that all volunteer enrichment classes will appear on the calendar above, but due to short lead times on scheduling, full descriptions may not be found here for some events.  Thank you for caring!

In January we celebrated another amazing year of helping animals in southeastern Wisconsin.  Volunteers and staff gathered on this occasion and honored some of the amazing people who helped to make that happen.

This year's Volunteer of the Year award was given to volunteers John and Sharon.  They joined WINC 6 years ago and have helped more than their share of awkward ducklings, floundering herons and rascally raccoons in that time!  Just recently they were called to assist in the rescue of a Great Blue Heron who had been tangled in fishing line that had been strung up to deter gulls on a boat.  They were able to successfully capture the Heron and bring him in for care, on their way however, they happened to see a small cottontail on the side of the road and stopped to help him out too!  The animals thank you both for your support and dedication in their own special way, and so do we!

We also gave a special award this year called the Rising Star.  It was given to Bridget who has been with the Center for over a year and in that time has not only been a regular face when it comes to all of the daily cleaning and feeding, but has exuberantly assisted with transport and rescue of animals in need AND community education programs too!  Thanks Bridget for being our "rising star" and for being someone the animals can really rely on.

Listed below, are items that the Center urgently needs.  If you know of a community group, scouts, etc. that would be interested in assisting us, please share the list with them.
